Why keep track of who Blu has met?
You have probably noticed that down the side of Blu’s blog is a growing list of all the people that Blu has meet since being rescued by Narnia. One of the goals in rescuing Blu is to help get him adopted by giving him training and socialization. There are millions of dogs and castsĀ in shelters that are euthanized every year (between 3-4 million says the United States Humane Society). Many people are worried about adopting a dog where there is so much unknown. We are hoping to show with Blu that you can take an adult dog from a shelter that no one wanted (we were the only ones that contacted them about Blu) and make him adoptable. Besides training, socialization is a big part of this. The weekend that we found out about Blu, we were all attending a seminar put on by Ian Dunbar (http://www.dogstardaily.com). He suggests that when socializing a puppy, they should meet 100 people ( different ages, genders, races, etc). We decided that in the time we have Blu we are going to try to do this with him. What we should get is a dog that is friendly with all types of people, and who wouldn’t want that?
